Tool & Equipment Rental

Rent power tools and equipment by the day instead of buying.

Rent What You Need, When You Need It
Some projects only come around once. A patio you're tearing up this weekend, a fence line that needs a few post holes dug, a basement carpet that needs a deep clean before company arrives. Renting the right equipment gets you a professional result without the cost, storage headache, or upkeep of owning a tool you'll use once or twice a year.
Weiders offers tool and equipment rental at our Honeoye Falls and Fairport/Perinton locations. This service is not currently available at our Brighton store. Availability and rates change with the season and with demand, so call your local Weiders ahead of time to check what's on hand and reserve what you need before you plan your project weekend.
What You Can Rent
Our rental fleet leans toward construction-grade equipment built for real work, much of it Wacker Neuson brand gear known for holding up on job sites and driveways across the Rochester area. Alongside that heavier equipment, we also stock everyday rentals that make quick work of common household jobs.
Construction and outdoor equipment:
- Plate compactors, for prepping soil, gravel, or paver bases before a patio or walkway goes down
- Jackhammers and demo hammers, for breaking up concrete, masonry, or an old slab
- Concrete cut-off saws, for clean, controlled cuts through concrete, asphalt, block, and stone
- Generators, for job site power or as backup power during a storm outage
Home and cleaning equipment:
- Carpet cleaners, for a deep clean before a move, after a party, or as part of spring cleaning
| Equipment Category | Examples | Common Projects |
|---|---|---|
| Compaction | Plate compactors | Paver patios, walkways, gravel driveways |
| Demolition | Jackhammers, demo hammers | Breaking up concrete, removing an old slab |
| Cutting | Concrete cut-off saws | Cutting concrete, asphalt, block, or stone |
| Power | Generators (Wacker Neuson) | Job site power, storm backup power |
| Cleaning | Carpet cleaners | Deep-cleaning carpets and area rugs |
Rental needs tend to follow the seasons around here. Spring and summer bring compactors and cut-off saws out for patios, walkways, and outdoor projects; fall and winter bring more calls for generators ahead of storm season. Carpet cleaners stay in demand year-round, especially around moves and holiday gatherings.
How Rental Works
- Call ahead or stop by our Honeoye Falls or Fairport/Perinton location to check what's currently available
- Ask about current rates; they vary by equipment type and by how long you need it
- Pick up your equipment and get a quick, friendly walkthrough on safe operation before you head out
- Return the equipment when your project's done, cleaned up and ready for the next neighbor who needs it
Renting through a trusted, local hardware store also means you're talking to people who actually use this equipment and can answer questions about the job itself, not just the rental paperwork. If a plate compactor or cut-off saw is new to you, ask; our associates are happy to walk through the basics before you load up.
Buying Instead of Renting
If a tool is something you'll reach for regularly, it may make more sense to own it outright. Our Hand & Power Tools department carries a wide selection for homeowners and contractors alike, from cordless drills to full corded power tool lines. And if a carpet cleaner is the only thing on your list, our dedicated Carpet Cleaner Rental service has more detail on that option specifically.
For questions about a specific piece of equipment, current rates, or same-day availability, give your nearest Weiders location a call before you head out. A quick check ahead of time saves a wasted trip and gets you working sooner.
This service isn't available at every store — call ahead or check which location offers it before you stop in.
Why Weiders
The Right Tool Without the Ownership Cost
Get specialty equipment for a one-off project without paying to buy, maintain, and store it afterward.
Check Current Availability & Rates
Ask in-store about what's on hand and daily pricing at your nearest location before you plan your project.
Renting Beats Buying for Occasional Use
For projects you'll tackle once or twice a year, renting is typically far more cost-effective than owning a tool that sits unused most of the time.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do I need to bring to rent equipment?
A valid ID is standard, and some rentals may require a card on file for a deposit hold — ask your local store about the specific item you're renting.
Do I need experience to rent power equipment?
No — our staff can walk you through safe setup and basic operation before you leave the store, especially for less common equipment.
What happens if I return equipment late or damaged?
Policies vary by item — ask about late fees and damage terms at checkout so there are no surprises when you return it.
Is renting cheaper than buying for a one-time project?
Usually, yes — for infrequent use, a daily rental rate is almost always less than the cost of buying, maintaining, and storing a tool you'll only need once or twice a year.
