Weiders has been repairing windows and screens for Rochester-area homeowners for more than twenty years. A basic rescreen on a small window starts at $17.64, and most screens are done in about a week.
Our own repair shop handles the full range: a torn screen, a cracked pane in a wood sash, a fogged thermal pane, a patio screen door that won't roll, a custom aluminum screen built to fit an odd opening, or a whole new window when there's nothing left to save.

Screen Repair and Rescreening
Most torn screens don't need replacing. If the frame is straight, we pull the old mesh and spline, rescreen it in whatever material you pick, and it goes home looking new. Bring the screen itself, not a measurement, since we need the frame.
We rescreen window screens, screen doors, patio sliders, porch panels and storm door inserts. Turnaround is typically one week.
What Screen Repair Costs
Screen repair here is a fixed price, not an hourly rate. Two things set it: the dimensions of the screen and the parts it needs, such as pins, wheels, handles, pull tabs and latches. A slow, fussy repair on a small screen costs the same as a quick one.
A basic rescreen on a small window screen starts at $17.64. Bigger screens cost more because they take more material, and a screen that needs new hardware costs the price of that hardware on top.

Aluminum comes in widths up to 72 inches, fiberglass to 72 inches, and we stock rolls of bronze and SeeVue in 50-foot lengths. Some of the wider rolls live at one store, so call ahead for an oversized panel.
Charcoal is the dark screening most people picture when they say black. It disappears from inside and reads clean from the curb. Brite aluminum is the traditional lighter look. If you're on the fence, we keep samples at the counter.
Custom-Built Screens and Storm Window Inserts
When there's no screen to repair, we build one. Our shop repairs and rebuilds screens for most brands of residential windows; Andersen, Pella, Marvin, and Simonton are just a few examples. We also make custom aluminum window screens and storm window inserts to size, fitting each screen with compatible hardware so it drops into the existing track the way the original did.
For wood, we work with local woodworkers who build bespoke wooden window and screen inserts, and who mill replacement pieces to match an original profile when a frame has rotted. We install and paint them to match what's already there.
That's the part a big-box counter can't do, and it's why people with 1920s Park Avenue windows end up here.
Window Glass Repair
A broken pane in an otherwise sound window is a repair, not a replacement. We take out the old glass and glazing, cut a new pane and reglaze it. Single strength, double strength, 1/4", tempered, laminated and Low-E are all available. See glass cut to size if you only need a flat piece cut and plan to install it yourself.
Fogged and Failed Thermal Panes
Haze between the panes of a double-pane window means the seal failed and moisture got in. Cleaning won't touch it, because the condensation is sealed inside the unit. We replace the insulated glass unit and leave the existing frame and sash in place, which costs far less than a new window. Low-E and argon-filled units are available, along with tinted glass.
Parts and Hardware
Often the screen is fine and the hardware is what broke. We keep a deep selection of the small parts that hold windows and screens together, for both screen frames and glass insert frames:

How It Works
- Drop off. Bring your window or screen to any Weiders location. We'll quote the repair from its size and the parts it needs, then write it up and take payment. New builds, thermal pane work, wood sash repair and tempered glass may take a few extra steps, so ask an associate about your specific item. Pickup and delivery is available for large or heavy items for an additional fee.
- Repair. Our technicians work on it in our shop. Most screens take about a week. If we open it up and find more damage, we call with a quote and wait for your approval.
- Pickup. We call as soon as it's ready.

Pet Defense. It's a heavy-duty molded screening that holds up to claws where standard fiberglass tears. Most people put it on sliding doors first, since that's where pets do the damage.
Is there a window screen you can barely see?
Two options. UltraVue 2 uses a finer yarn for a sharper view and better airflow. SeeVue is stainless steel and gives the clearest view of anything we carry.
Do you carry screening that keeps out gnats and no-see-ums?
Yes. No-See-Um screening uses a 20x20 mesh, tight enough to stop insects that walk straight through standard screening.
Can you fix a foggy window?
