We keep wire, sockets, plugs, harps, and hard-to-find bulbs on the shelf, because we're an electrical and hardware store too. Most repairs don't wait on a mail-order part.

Old lamps come with brittle cloth-covered cord, obsolete sockets, and hardware nobody has manufactured in decades. We rewire them with modern materials and match period-correct parts where we can find them. Rochester has a lot of old houses, so we see a lot of old lamps.

What It Costs and How Long It Takes

Rewiring or a new socket usually costs far less than a new lamp of comparable quality, which is why repair is the better call on well-built and vintage pieces.
