Small Engine and Outdoor Power Equipment Repair in Rochester, NY

Weiders fixes mowers, chainsaws, trimmers, blowers, snow blowers, generators, pressure washers, and tillers. Three shops in Monroe County, technicians on the bench year round, and factory warranty authorization for STIHL, EGO, Briggs & Stratton, Ridgid, Ryobi, and Hart. We work on every brand we can get parts for, not only the ones we sell, so you don't need to have bought the machine from us to bring it in.

If it's too big or too awkward to load into your car, we'll come get it. Ask about pickup and delivery →

Small Engine Repair

Most small engine trouble comes down to the same short list: stale fuel that gummed up the carburetor, a fouled plug, a clogged air filter, a sheared flywheel key, a bad recoil, no spark, no compression. Our technicians test spark and compression, pull and clean or rebuild carburetors, replace fuel lines, primer bulbs, and pull cords, and chase down ignition and charging faults.

We work on Briggs & Stratton, Honda, Kohler, Kawasaki, and Tecumseh engines, on mowers, snow blowers, tillers, pressure washers, and generators. If your machine has an engine small enough for two people to carry, bring it in. If it doesn't, call and we'll schedule a pickup.

STIHL Authorized Dealer and Service Center

We sell STIHL and we're a STIHL Gold Certified Warranty Repair Center, which is the top service tier STIHL awards its dealers. Our technicians train on STIHL equipment specifically, we stock genuine STIHL parts, and we file warranty claims directly with STIHL so a covered repair doesn't come out of your pocket.

Bring in a STIHL chainsaw, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, pole saw, backpack blower, or edger for anything from a chain and bar swap to a carburetor rebuild. Registration or proof of purchase speeds up any warranty claim, so bring it if you have it.

EGO Authorized Dealer and Service Center

We're an EGO Authorized Dealer and Service Center, so we sell the battery platform and repair it under warranty. Battery tools fail differently than gas ones. Instead of a gummed carburetor or a fouled plug, you're looking at cell degradation in the pack, a charger that won't hand off current, or a brushless motor or controller fault. Our technicians diagnose the pack, the charger, and the tool separately so you're not replacing a $300 battery to fix a $40 problem.

We service EGO mowers, string trimmers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, and snow blowers.

Toro, Briggs & Stratton, Ryobi, and Everything Else

We repair Toro mowers and snow blowers as a paid service, and our Toro warranty repair certification is in progress. We're already certified for warranty work on EGO, Briggs & Stratton engines, and the TTI brands: Ridgid, Ryobi, and Hart. Stanley Black & Decker, DeWalt, and Craftsman certification is also in progress.

Non-warranty repair is open to any brand: Honda, Husqvarna, Ariens, Troy-Bilt, Echo, Cub Cadet, Snapper, and whatever else is sitting in your garage. Call the shop nearest you if you're not sure we can get parts for yours.

What We Fix

Lawn Mower Repair

Push mowers, self-propelled mowers, riding mowers, and zero-turns. Most of what comes through the door in spring is a mower that sat all winter with fuel in it: fouled plug, clogged carburetor, stale gas, dead battery. We also handle blade sharpening and balancing, deck cleaning and repair, drive belt and cable replacement on self-propelled units, and starter and ignition work.

String Trimmer and Hedge Trimmer Repair

Trimmer heads, spools, fuel lines, primer bulbs, clutches, carburetors, and starter assemblies. On hedge trimmers we sharpen and align blades, replace bent or chipped teeth, and service the gearbox. Gas and battery both.

Chainsaw Repair and Chain Sharpening

Carburetor tuning and rebuilds, clutch and sprocket replacement, bar and chain swaps, oiler repair, and chain brake service. We sharpen chains while you wait at all three stores. We also run Rochester Sharpening if you have a pile of blades, chains, or tools to drop off at once.

Leaf Blower Repair

Handheld and backpack blowers, gas and battery. Carburetors, fuel lines, impellers, tubes, and harnesses on backpack units.

Snow Blower Repair

Single-stage and two-stage machines. Auger and impeller repair, shear pin replacement, belt replacement, chute and control cable adjustment, carburetor cleaning, electric start repair, and skid shoe and scraper bar replacement.

Get it serviced in September or October. Every year the first real snow fills our benches, and a machine that comes in during a storm week waits behind everything else that came in that morning.

Also on the Bench

Generators, pressure washers, tillers, cultivators, pole saws, and edgers.

Tune-Ups and Annual Maintenance

A seasonal tune-up covers fresh oil, a clean or new air filter, a new spark plug, a sharpened blade or chain, a cleaned fuel system, and a full safety check. On battery equipment we test pack health and charge cycles instead of the fuel and ignition work.

It's the same logic as an oil change on a car. Cheaper up front than the alternative, and the alternative usually happens on the one Saturday you had time to mow.

Lawn Mower Tune-Up

On a mower we also balance the blade after sharpening and check the controls and the shutoff.

March is the right month. A mower dropped off before the grass starts is usually back before you need it. The same mower dropped off Memorial Day weekend gets in line behind everyone else who waited for the grass.

Pickup and Delivery for Large Equipment

A zero-turn or a two-stage snow blower doesn't fit in a Subaru. For large equipment, we'll pick it up from your property, bring it to the shop, and deliver it back when the repair is done. Call the store nearest you to schedule it and get a quote for your address.

Cost and Turnaround

Diagnosis is $35, paid when you check the equipment in. If the repair goes through as a warranty claim, the manufacturer covers the fee and you get the $35 back, so bring your registration or proof of purchase. If it isn't a warranty repair, the $35 is credited against your balance and comes off the final bill.

Standard turnaround is about two weeks for gas equipment and about three weeks for battery equipment, once diagnosis is done and you've approved the plan. Warranty parts availability can push that out.

How it works:

  1. Drop off. Bring the tool to any Weiders location, or schedule a pickup for large equipment.
  2. Diagnosis. A technician runs it down and builds a repair plan, ordering parts for warranty work or quoting you a price if it isn't covered.
  3. Repair. We start once you approve.
  4. Pickup. We call you when it's ready.

Why Weiders

Stihl Gold Certified & Multi-Brand Warranty Repair

Authorized warranty and repair work for Stihl, EGO, TTI brands (Ridgid, Ryobi, Hart), and Briggs & Stratton, all in one shop.

Pickup & Delivery for Bulky Equipment

Snowblowers and zero-turn mowers don't fit in most cars — we can arrange delivery so a repair doesn't turn into a moving job.

Regular Tune-Ups Beat Emergency Repairs

Seasonal maintenance — sharpening, fluid changes, filter checks — costs far less than a major repair after equipment fails mid-project.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a repair usually take?

Standard turnaround is about 2 weeks for gas-powered equipment and about 3 weeks for battery-powered equipment, once diagnosis is complete and any needed parts are approved.

How much is the Diagnostic Charge?

Diagnostic Charge is $35. On a warranty repair, yes. The manufacturer covers it and the $35 comes back to you. On non-warranty work it isn't refundable, and it's billed in addition to the repair.

What brands are you authorized to do warranty repairs for?

We're a Stihl Gold Certified Warranty Repair Center and also handle warranty/repair work for EGO, TTI brands (Ridgid, Ryobi, Hart), and Briggs & Stratton. Stanley Black & Decker, DeWalt, Craftsman, and Toro are coming soon.

How much is a lawn mower tune-up?

$124.99 + Diagnostic Charge. Blade sharpening, oil, plug, filter, and fuel system cleaning are included. Parts beyond that get quoted before we start.

Do you repair equipment I didn't buy at Weiders?

Yes. Non-warranty repair is open to any brand we can get parts for. Warranty repair depends on the manufacturer, and we're authorized for STIHL, EGO, Briggs & Stratton, Ridgid, Ryobi, and Hart.

What brands are you authorized to do warranty repairs for?

Can you pick up my mower or snow blower?

Yes, for anything you can't transport yourself. Call the store nearest you to schedule it and get a quote for your address.

When should I bring in my mower or snow blower?

Mowers in March, snow blowers in September or October. Both fill our benches the week the weather turns.

Should I get an annual tune-up even if my equipment seems to run fine?

Yes. Fresh fuel, a sharp blade, and a clean filter are what keep a machine running past its warranty, and a scheduled tune-up costs less than a breakdown mid-season.
